His Royal Highness Prince Philip of Spain inaugurated the monument on the 5th Centenary of Pinzon's Arrival to Baiona. This granite sculpture portrays five groups representing Galicia, America, emigration and the return around an enormous globe -the Earth-, which keeps inside soil from the 22 Latin-American countries brought by the corresponding 22 ambassadors on the inauguration day.

The huge monument -9 metres wide and 4.5 metres tall- is on the High Constable's Half Moon Wall, at the foot of the Monterreal walled precinct. Its author is the sculptor Magín Picallo.
