Santa Liberata

This chapel honours the martyr daughter of Baiona and first woman to dye in the cross in the World, St. Liberata. Italian plateresque in style, it was started in 1695 thanks to popular donation. In the main façade two elegant towers can be seen and right in the middle, above the lintel and escorted by the ancient coats of arms of Baiona and the Kingdom of Galicia, a niche with the crucified saint appears.

In the altarpiece the main portrait is the crucifixion of the saint, along with a series of high relief medallions regarding St. Liberata's eight sisters martyrdom. At each side of the altar two paintings in quite good condition portray St. Francisco Javier preaching to Indians and the Holy Virgin Carmen.
