A tradition: brothers and sisters' funerals

One of the main duties of the Brotherhood is dead brothers and sisters' burial, an antique tradition in Galicia: a representation of the Brotherhood, dressed in particular attire, walks beside the corpse and the Chapter carries the Brotherhood Cross. When the family so decides, the Holy Mercy Chapel is often used as wake room.

When a Brotherhood member dies, a special tolling is the sign: thirteen strokes for a brother and twelve for a sister, whether it has happened in Baiona or not.
