As in every other Spanish coastal village, fisherpeople honour their patroness in a colourful procession by boat, sailing the ria. At the end a tribute is paid to those who died in the sea and a funeral wreath is thrown into the water. Celebrations also include lay and religious ceremonies, bans concerts, skyrockets and "Giants and Bigheadeds", carnival figures who gaily dance to music around the streets.
