The arrival of caravel La Pinta to the port of Baiona on March 1st, 1493 -a date that will never be forgotten- marked the following history of Baiona. In fact, the local public holiday falls on that day. Besides, anniversary after anniversary, the different town councils have honoured the deed with different monuments showing people of Baiona's gratefulness to La Pinta and the other caravels crews.
