Santa María

Among the examples of religious art existing in Baiona, the group comprising the Church of St. María of Baiona, the Chapel of St. Liberata and the Holy Trinity Cross deserve especial attention. The first one is a splendid Romanesque Ogival work that, during the 15th century, was awarded "Collegiate Church". The second one does not stand out due to its architectonic value -a 17th-century Plateresque church-, but due to its devotion: the chapel remembers St. Liberata's martyrdom and it is consecrated to her who was the first women in history to die in the cross. About the Holy Trinity Cross, its Renaissance shelter provides unique features among similar style crosses.
